Weird Michigan

One of the projects I have been working on in the “Runs With Scissors” group is an art quilt based on a story from the book Weird Michigan by Linda Godfrey. I’ve just finished my entry, it’s about a Michigan chicken who managed to stay alive for 17 days without her head back in 1903. Much like the famed Mike of Frutia, Colorado, this chicken was displayed for her ability to not die on the chopping block. She never did achieve the fame of Mike, who has his own website, nor did she even get a name, but none the less, she is our own amazing animal that fooled the fates. This is my homage to her.

  1. Talk about weird??? Someone was just telling me about this story the other day. I couldn’t believe it, and now I know it’s true. Co-ink-a-dense! The piece is superb!
