briefly. Mark and I have lots of apartment work to do. We are very busy cleaning and painting. That’s not so pretty to look at, so I planted my feet in flowers for today’s post.
Today Mark and I went to the Cranbrook Art Museum, to see a show of Warhol album covers. I did want to see the show, but what I really wanted to see was Thumbs Up. Thumbs Up is Detroit’s premier Velvet Underground ukulele duo. How can you pass that up? At one point Steve, one of the Thumbs, tap dances wildly to add percussion, and I managed to get his tap shoes in my feet photo.
The sign for the show, there was no photography in the gallery.
Thumbs Up playing their hearts out for us.
T-shirts were being screen printed on the spot.
Mark and I walked the property a little after the show.
After the music, Top of the Park has movies, and last night it was The Blues Brothers. I wasn’t planning on staying for the entire movie, maybe just some of my favorite parts like when Aretha sing Think, but I asked Mark what his favorite part of the movie is and he confessed that though he’d seen most of it, he’d never seen the whole movie beginning to end. Well, now he has.
Mark planted some seeds from a sycamore tree and these are what came up. I think they are not the trees, but weeds that already had seeds in the dirt. Maybe they are the seed-pods from “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” Those aliens will be very disappointed when they find out Mark is already devoid of emotion.
I’ve been embroidering veves for different member of the Lwa, so far I’ve done Papa Legba, Ezili Danto, Marassa, and Gran Bwa. They are available on my Etsy site.
We lost a big part of our neighborhood this past weekend. Hank (the dog) and Jenna (the person) have been best friends for nearly 15 years, and Jenna had to let Hank go. The entire neighborhood will miss Hank deeply. There’s hardly a person that knows Hank and Jenna that hasn’t commented that they’d like to be reincarnated as Jenna’s pet. She did right by Hank his whole life, and Hank returned the favor. Safe travels, Hank, you will be sorely missed.
