Where I stood, unloading

gasoline feet

Big Red leaks gas and oil, her gauges don’t work, she roars, and she plays cassette tapes.  It might be time to retire her, but she did make one more trip to Lansing for us.  This weekend was the big antique radio swap meet, and Big Red delivered three console radios and a lot of other stuff to the meet. It was a grand weekend.  I was delighted to spend time with so many friends, especially two in particular.  One, Mike, has moved to Wisconsin, and the other, Jim has moved to Indiana, so I don’t get to see them very often.  It was wonderful catching up on everyone’s lives.

Holliday Nature Preserve

pathMark and I followed a path in the woods last weekend.

snakeWe surprised a snake that quickly slithered away.

caterpillarsThe caterpillars surprised us, they were eating an entire section of the forest.

bridgeWe found a bottomless bridge.

metal thingsWe also saw these metal structures deep in the woods, we can’t figure out what they were doing there.  It was a pleasant walk, except for the ankle-biting bugs.  Next time I will remember bug spray.

A trip to Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum

If you’re ever in the neighborhood of 14 mile and Orchard Lake, check out Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum.  It’s a blast.  MMMM0

Here are just a few photos of the wonderful stuff inside.

MMMM1Put in a quarter or two, and you can watch such things as bodies descending into Hell.

Once in Hell, the devils are eating and playing pool.

MMMM4You can watch victims being tortured during the Spanish Inquisition.

Skeletons being chased by a dog.

Even if you don’t put quarters in the marvelous mechanical machines, just looking at all the stuff on the walls will keep you busy for a very long time.  Truly an amazing place!
